                                  PARENT INVOLVEMENT

As a support and extension of the family unit, Veritas considers the family to be of first importance to a child. Therefore, at Veritas, we depend upon the active involvement of the parents and families of our students. Following are just a few of the more common ways to be an integral part of the school:

Assist in the classroom
Assist with lunch duty
Playground monitoring
Story Reading
Song-leader
Guest artist
Gather reference materials at the library
Chaperone field trips

It is vital that parents and teachers keep in communication with each other. Please attend all Parent-Teacher Conferences, and closely monitor your child’s progress by reading all teacher notes and papers sent home.

SCHOOL VISITS
The School Board, faculty, and staff warmly encourage parents to visit the classroom and to be involved in the school. It is our stated philosophy that we are an extension of the home, in which lies the responsibility for the education of the child. As a courtesy we request that the teacher be informed by note or phone call when you intend to visit. Visitors are expected to adhere to the general dress code. All visitors must sign in and out at the office.

CONSIDER THE TOTAL COST
Since it is the desire of Veritas to keep its tuition within the average family budget, the amount charged does not cover the total cost of our school program. Additional funds must come from fundraisers and the generous tax-deductible gifts of the parents and friends of Veritas. It is the intent of the Veritas School Board to hold two major fundraisers during the year, a Walk-a-thon in the fall and a Golf tournament in the spring. It is expected that each family will wholeheartedly participate in these activities, realizing that the funds raised will enable us to pursue the mission that God has put before us.
The Walk-a-Thon is designed to be a fun time for our school families. Students and/or families seek sponsorship for participating in the walk. The walk-a-thon is held at a park in the Sierra Vista area ending with a B-B-Q and fellowship time.
The Golf Tournament will be a pay and play tournament. Revenue from this event will come from player fees and sponsorship of holes, etc. Families and students are not required to golf, but we do need help recruiting golfers and sponsors, and with the actual running of the event.
